On Tuesday, the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) issued a warning to Twitter users, debunking false claims that elementary schools “will remain closed until further notice.”
The Pandemic Service posted a snapshot of the false alert on Twitter and explained that “fake news about the elementary school closures is being spread through a fake Twitter account. The action against this account was initiate by the FIA cybercrime unit.”
This comes a day after NCOC made the decision to make its final decision on schools based only on positive case data from various institutions that are undergoing mass testing at schools.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) warn on Monday. That the next two to three weeks could be critical for the country. Due to the worsening COVID-19 situation in the country.
The PMA urged the government to act quickly. Citing the fact that the COVID-19 positivity rate in Karachi has risen to 40 percent. This number includes only those coronavirus infections that have reported. It also added that the number of unreported cases is much higher.
Over the past 24 hours, the coronavirus positivity rate in Pakistan has nearly reached 10 percent. Following 53,253 tests nationwide, 5,034 new cases have reported. According to NCOC data released Tuesday morning, raising the positivity rate to 9.45%.
