Internet service was suspend at the conference venue during former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s address at a ceremony held in Lahore in memory of prominent lawyer leader Asma Jahangir.
Manza Jahangir, the conference organizer, and daughter of Asma Jahangir claimed that the internet service was suspend even before Nawaz Sharif’s address.
She said that the internet cables were cut off after which the address was delivere on the mobile phone.
In his address, former Nawaz Sharif, referring to the internet suspension, said, “Unfortunately, truth-telling languages are pulling out in our country. But does that solve the problem?”
In this regard, Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz said in a tweet. “Imagine how weak they are who can’t stand the truth. They have to shut everything down.”

It may be recalled that on Saturday, Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed inaugurate the two-day Asma Jahangir Conference in Lahore. The conference is being attended by judges, lawyers, human rights activists, and also politicians from across the country. Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also address the concluding session on the second day of the conference in London on Sunday.
In addition, Organizers of the conference were criticize by government ministers for inviting the former prime minister to address them.
In a tweet, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry says, “I was invited to the Asma Jahangir Conference today. “I was told that the conference would end with the speech of the fugitive suspect.”
“Obviously, this is tantamount to mocking the country and the constitution. I have apologized for not attending the conference.”
In a tweet, Human Rights Minister Shirin Mazari called the former prime minister’s invitation to address the conference “unfortunate”.
He said that this clarifies the political agenda of the organizers.
